The Smith & Williamson Cityscape prize

As part of our continued commitment to the arts, Smith & Williamson is delighted to support The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition 2016. As supporters of the competition since 2009 we have created and are sponsors of the Smith & Williamson Cityscape Prize, which attracts applicants from all over the country. Now in its 28th year, The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition is the largest and most prestigious prize for contemporary watercolour painting in the UK.

The competition offers a total prize fund of £17,500, including a First Prize of £10,000, Second Prize of £6,000, and the Smith & Williamson Cityscape Prize of £1,500.

Judging process

Submissions were judged in early July and Smith & Williamson staff and partners selected the winner of the Smith & Williamson Cityscape Prize. The judging process was led by Charles Winter who is a partner of Smith & Williamson Investment Management.

The wider judging panel includes Akah Bhatt, artist ,Sara Dudman, artist; Desmond Shawe-Taylor LVO, Surveyor of the Queen’s Pictures and Louis Wise, Critic and Writer, The Sunday Times.

The Smith & Williamson tour

The winning and shortlisted works start their tour at the Mall Galleries, London from 29-24 September. The exhibition makes a tour of our offices as well as the Guildford House Gallery (10 December 2016 - 28 January 2017).
