Land and Farming

A biannual bulletin for farmers and landowners

Welcome to the summer edition of Land and Farming.

In this edition, we examine the outlook for the profitability of agriculture in 2017 and the resilience of livestock farms with particular reference to the likely changes in subsidies due to Brexit. We also cover the stalling of an increase in probate fees, which would disproportionately have affected farming families and landed estates, as well as the uncertainty around the launch of Making Tax Digital caused by the dissolution of parliament.

Both measures are likely to return under a new parliament but hopefully each with a reviewed focus and timescale. We will keep you updated on each and any changes to the proposed measures as they arise.
