Rupert provides strategic advice on family governance, succession planning, setting up single family offices and next generation preparation.

Experience

Rupert joined Smith & Williamson in 2017 and leads the family office services group. Prior to this, he was the Director of Family Office Services at Savills PLC.

Rupert also spent seven years as a Director of Family Office Services at BNY Mellon.

Formerly he has been a board member of a single FO, Global Head of Private Banking & Wealth Management at Euromoney, with other senior roles at UBS Global Asset Management and Merrill Lynch.

His first position in the City was at James Capel Investment Management in 1989.

During his career, Rupert has successfully developed relationships between family offices and their advisers in the UK, Europe and Middle East. 

Notable client work and achievements

Rupert is a Liveryman of the Drapers' Company (where he has sat on the Investments and Almshouses Committees).

He won the Spear's Wealth Management Survey (WMS) award for Outstanding Contribution to Wealth Management in 2008-2009.

He is Vice Chairman of the Global Partnership Family Offices, serves on the Cure Parkinson’s Trust Gulls’ Eggs Luncheon Committee (Chairman), the board of the single FO of a European former ruling family and advises Somerville College, Oxford and the University of St. Andrews on their strategy for increasing their endowments and sourcing philanthropic capital.

SEC recognised Series 7, SFA Registered Representative, Financial Planner (certificates 1 and 2).
