Application process

The process

The application process should take no more than 20 minutes with the ability to save and return to it as you wish. You will be required to upload an electronic copy of your CV and a cover letter if applicable.

Please remember we want to see all relevant work experience, education and key achievements from your current/previous positions.

Once submitted, all applications will be reviewed and may be selected for interview. The process across the different departments at Smith &Williamson may vary however there are certain stages you should expect to go through:

  1. Depending on the position you may be required to complete some testing. All testing times out after seven days, so be sure to keep an eye on your inbox after the initial application is made.
  2. If your application meets the requirements we are looking for (and you have passed the testing – if applicable), we will invite you in for an interview with the hiring manager. For experienced hires, this can often be a technical interview with some competency-based questions. We will want to know about your work experience to date, motivations, strengths and weaknesses. While your technical capability is important, we are also looking for you to demonstrate your characteristics as an individual. Make sure you have questions ready for the interviewers too!
  3. If you pass the interviews with the hiring manager/team members, you will be invited to complete an HR interview over the phone or face to face with a member of the HR recruitment team. This stage consists of broader competency questions and an overview of Smith & Williamson with a discussion around the pre-employment screening checks to dot the ‘I’s and cross the ‘T’s.

Should you be the successful candidate we will make you a formal offer. A member of the recruitment team will be on hand to answer any questions you might have.
