Colleagues and friends gathered at Birmingham’s Whitewall Galleries to mark the retirement of one of the city’s leading business figures.
John Hodgson, Managing Partner of Tax and Business Services at Smith & Williamson Birmingham is stepping down after almost 40 years in the profession.
In that time he has advised numerous business owners on issues ranging from expansion strategies, succession planning and business sales, to maximising wealth for different generations.
Stephen Drew, who joined Smith & Williamson Birmingham as Professional Services Regional Managing Partner in May, said: “In addition to his client-facing role, John has set the direction and strategy for our business, pulling everyone together with a shared sense of purpose.
“John has been a huge asset to the office and we wish him well for the future. I feel confident the Birmingham team will continue to go from strength to strength as we embark on an ambitious new growth phase.
“We are investing heavily in our people and infrastructure to enable us to offer a wide range of financial services to our growing local, national and international client base, and have recently announced six senior promotions.”
John commented: “It’s an exciting time for the firm and I wish Stephen and the team every success. It is however time for a quieter life and to pursue other activities.”
