Greg Palfrey becomes a Committee Chairman at ICAEW

Greg Palfrey, National Head of Restructuring & Recovery Services at professional and financial services firm Smith & Williamson, has been appointed as Chairman of the ICAEW Restructuring Insolvency & Advisory Group. He will hold the role for a minimum of two-years, effective from 1st January 2020.

Greg has been involved in the restructuring and insolvency field since 1989 and has been with Smith & Williamson since 2005. As National Head of Restructuring & Recovery Services, he splits his time between the firm’s London, Southampton, Bristol, Birmingham and Dublin offices.

Greg works on advisory assignments, formal and informal corporate insolvencies and turnarounds of all kinds. He advises clients in most industry sectors including healthcare, leisure, retail, manufacturing and financial services and has built up a particular sector specialism in the motor trade. Greg has also worked on highly sensitive cases involving fraud for asset-based lenders banks and other charge holders.

As Chairman of the Group, Greg will lead its work providing insight to the ICAEW about the needs of the Community members for relevant services. Greg will also be the community representative at events and chair the annual conference.

Greg states: “I’m delighted to take up the role of Chairman of the Restructuring Insolvency & Advisory Group and will work with a committee of dedicated specialists, that provide guidance, support and representation to insolvency practitioners.”
