Smith & Williamson hosted a charity auction on behalf of GB hockey gold medallist and triple Olympian, Crista Cullen MBE, who was a guest speaker at an event for the firm.
Crista spoke about the parallels between the worlds of high-level sport and business. She spoke about overcoming personal set-backs, from the U13 C team at Oakham school where she was told she would never qualify as an international player, to scoring the equalizing goal against Holland in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Crista now dedicates her time to conservation work in Kenya, where she was born. Tofauti means “difference” in Swahili, and raises money for conservation and development projects in East Africa. Tofauti believes in partnerships and empowering local communities to make sustainable decisions so they can stop relying on donor funding.
John Morris, Partner at Smith & Williamson, hosted the auction in which staff and clients donated prizes and money generously. The auction raised over £5,000.
John said: “I am thrilled with the outcome of the auction, Tofauti is a fantastic charity and we are proud to support them through this donation. It was great to hear Crista’s speech, I think everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed the event and was inspired by the charity and Crista’s story.”
