Bristol’s insolvency professionals raised over £4,000 for charity after getting their thinking caps on for a quiz night hosted by accountancy, tax and investment management group Smith & Williamson.
The firm’s restructuring and recovery services department in Bristol has been holding its “Nearly Christmas Charity Quiz” for the past six years.
The team from HS Business Recovery Ltd. emerged as winners at this year’s quiz, which raised £4,080 for the Bristol-based Addiction Recovery Agency which includes the Arc Café located at St. Mary Redcliffe Church in Bristol.
Gil Lemon, partner in restructuring and recovery services at Smith & Williamson in Bristol, said: “This was our seventh annual quiz and to date we’ve raised almost £18,000 for local charities.
“We tend to select smaller local charities for whom the money raised can make a real difference. The other beneficiaries in the past have been The Green House, Rainbow Centre for Children, Music Space, Bristol Children’s Help Society, Jessie May Trust and Children’s Hospice South West.
“The event has become a fixture in the diary for many local firms and this year’s quiz was our best attended so far.”
Graham England, CEO of Addiction Recovery Agency, said: “All of the money raised will go towards ensuring we can help more people rebuild their self-confidence, work skills and ultimately achieve paid employment. We can’t thank Smith & Williamson enough for holding the fundraising quiz and also thank those who attended for their support.”
