Smith & Williamson LLP, which is part of the Tilney Smith & Williamson group, has advised the founders of marketing technology agency Byte on its merger with Dept.
The Smith & Williamson LLP team, which was led by Director Peter Castle and Director Tessa Pudge, provided tax advisory services to the Byte founders and its minority shareholders, as well as tax advice to the company.
Byte, which has offices in London, Berlin and New York, is a Sunday Times Tech Track 100 company that specialises in advertising campaigns, AR, automation and chatbots. The agency’s long-term clients included Spotify, ASOS and Just Eat Takeaway. In 2020, Byte grew its global revenue by 20% following the addition of a number of high-growth clients to its roster, including TikTok, Twitch and Zoopla.
Dept is an international digital agency that works with brands including BOSE, Mizuno and Patagonia and has 27 offices around the world.
