Experience
Prior to joining Smith & Williamson in 2008, Matthew worked at Gerrard Investment Management providing advice on long-term investment strategies to families, landed estates and entrepreneurs based in the Midlands. Many of these clients moved to Smith & Williamson so that the relationships have continued for more than 15 years.
Matthew runs portfolios in a range of taxable and tax sheltered environments, including pension funds, trusts and offshore bond structures.
He advises on succession planning, gives guidance for the next generation and assists in identifying protective measures, where necessary. He is experienced in divorce situations, probate and inheritance, arranging bridging finance if required.
Professional qualifications/memberships
- MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI). Trustee of the Abberley Hall Foundation.
