Previously managed foreign exchange, interest rate and credit risk for institutional clients both in the UK and Continental Europe. He now applies this knowledge to advise UK and international families on multi asset class investing.
Michael joined Smith & Williamson in November 2013 after a 27 year career at Morgan Stanley in New York, London and Milan. Over this period he advised UK and Continental institutional clients on foreign exchange, interest rate and credit exposures.
Michael moved to Milan in 1994 to help establish the Italian banking operation for Morgan Stanley. He currently manages portfolios for large families across asset classes. It is Michael’s conviction that families should take a holistic long term view to building wealth. This entails careful consistent communication as well as close collaboration with the client’s other advisors, lawyers and accountants.

Michael is a Scottish Chartered Accountant, a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and a registered adviser of Finra, Consob
